"Tavit's at your doorstep!"

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a storefront?

We do not. With Tavit’s Cleaners, we bring your clothes right to you, so you don’t have to make the trip to the store. Rather than maintaining a storefront, we are committed to providing the best service we can through pickup and delivery,

Where do you pick-up and drop off my clothes?

We customize our delivery arrangements to suit your needs. It’s best if you choose a weather sheltered location (front porch, back porch, inside the garage) and let us know your preference.

Do I have to be home to receive this service?

No. We will pick up from and deliver to the same location you prefer.

How do I pay for my cleaning?

You can pay by credit or debit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc). Each time you use Tavit’s Cleaners, your credit card will be charged. Your credit card information is held securely.

How do I know what I’m being charged?

Each delivered order will include a credit card receipt. If you ever need copies of an old receipt, we will be happy to scan & email it to you.

Do you offer tailoring services?

We do! For dry cleaning items, we can replace buttons, sew tears, patch holes, fix linings, and fix or replace zippers. We will even replace standard shirt buttons for free. If you’ve got a garment you’d like us to hem, just drop a note in your cleaning bag with the measurements you want, and our tailor will take care of it for you.

Who do I contact if there is a problem with a recent delivery?

Call Tavit’s Cleaners at 908-522-0009. Our staff is friendly, patient, and helpful. We are available to take your call from 9:00am-6:00pm M-F and 9am-3:00pm on Saturday. After hours, you may leave a message with us, and we’ll contact you the following business morning.

How is Tavit’s environmentally friendly?

We at Tavit’s pride ourselves on using 100% Wet Cleaning. In this process, the clothes are washed using biodegradable detergents and simple water. Our high-tech, German-engineered machines gently control agitation to prevent your garments from being harmed or misshapen, and the drying process is tightly controlled. This extra care means that wet cleaning an item takes about 50% longer than traditional PERC dry cleaning, but we feel that it is worth it. We want our process to be safe and healthy for your clothes, for your body, and for the environment.

Do you use Organic Cleaning?

We do not use the term Organic Cleaning. There is no federal standard for organic dry cleaning. That means that unlike fruits and vegetables, seeing an “organic” label on your clean clothes does not mean much at all. In order to call dry cleaning organic, it just has to be processed with carbon-based solvents (that is, organic compounds). Even petroleum byproducts, made by multinational oil companies like Exxon and Chevron, can legally be labeled organic. You can read an article about the myth of Organic Cleaning here: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/12/nyregion/12clean.html
