Your wedding day is a momentous occasion, signifying an eternal bond and promise between two people in the presence of your closest friends and family. Love is in the air. All eyes are on the bride, and she has never looked better! This promises to be one of the best days of your life.
Preserve those memories and the dress. After all, that dress was not cheap!
We have developed a 9-step process for wedding dress preservation (details below). This includes professional cleaning, repairs, professional press and preservation in a museum quality box, to ensure the dress remains as beautiful as the day you wore it for years to come.
After the big day is over, save yourself a trip to the dry cleaner. We make preserving your wedding gown convenient and hassle-free by offering free pickup & delivery service at your home. Just schedule an appointment by clicking below.
When your wedding dress arrives at Tavit's Dry Cleaners, it is checked in and registered with its own unique tracking number. It is given a meticulous examination, and hand examined for stains and any needed repairs.
Minor repairs that are discovered during the examination are repaired for free. More extensive repairs can also be made. We will contact you with a quote if needed.
Next, your dress is then hand-cleaned along the hem, neckline and underarms. These areas are always the worst and need special attention. We are experts at removing dirt, mud, grass-stains, asphalt parking lot oil and other stains from the hem of your dress. We also pay particular attention to removing all of the make-up, self-tanning stains, deodorant and perspiration stains as well.
Your bridal gown is then individually cleaned. (Your gown is never batched cleaned with other dresses like the “competition” does). We use Trebon Plus, an organic plant-based soap with oxygen-bleaching properties to maximize brightness. We then use Aktiv, another organic plant-based soap specifically used to preserve and revitalize delicate fabrics such as silk. Our organic, plant-based soaps are environmentally friendly and gentler on fabrics than the perchloroethylene that traditional dry-cleaners use.
A complete and thorough re-inspection then takes place. If any problems remain then the bridal dress preservation cleaning process is re-done.
Your dress is then individually steamed and hand-pressed.
The bodice of your dress is then shaped and placed on an acid-free bust form for display. You’ll be able to see how beautiful it is – just like the day you wore it.
The skirt, sleeves and bodice are layered with acid free tissue paper to protect it.
The dress is placed in a white storage box that consists of lignin-free solid white archival grade board that is buffered to resist acid-migration. This is the most elegant, yet durable storage box on the market. It features a high-gloss varnished exterior, white inside walls and a crystal clear oval viewing window.
